Sac Youth Works x Fellowship
The goal of #SacYouthWorks is to mitigate the challenges of COVID-19 and support youth to:
- Connect to trusted adults, positive peer relationships, school, and the community.
- Develop critical college and career readiness skills.
Due to COVID-19, young people are disconnected from traditional supports and experiencing unprecedented levels of isolation, loss of learning, and loss of opportunity critical to the development of college and career readiness skills.
For mental wellness track participants, increase mental health awareness and literacy and develop skills as mental wellness leaders and advocates.
At the same time, #SacYouthWorks seeks to:
- Increase the capacity of the City’s COVID-19 relief efforts.
- Increase the capacity of community-based organizations to respond to youth and community needs due to COVID-19.
- For the mental wellness track, increase capacity to support youth and the community with mental wellness challenges due to COVID-19.
- The City of Sacramento is partnering with PRO Youth & Families, as part of its Youth & Family Collective initiative, to lead a network of youth service providers to implement #SacYouthWorks Fall 2020.
Therefore, this Service Agreement is to participate in a citywide network of youth providers that will engage youth (ages 12-24) in a paid, 40-hour work-based learning experience using the following #SacYouthWorks Framework:
- Connect: Providers connect youth to work-based learning experiences supporting COVID-19 relief efforts; Youth connects with trusted adults that guide youth through the program with one-on-one or small group coaching; Youth engage in reflections to connect learning and applied work or service; Youth connects to industry and community professionals.
- Learn: Youth learn critical work-readiness skills through professional training and classroom learning, and youth learn about career paths.
- Earn: Youth apply to learn through practical work experiences OR service, and youth earn a stipend.
