Leaders of Tomorrow
In recent events across the United States, deep-rooted racism and injustice towards our Black communities have taken the forefront. More than ever before, everyone is struggling to look for leadership that they can trust, especially our Black youth.
Our organization, Architects of Hope, has been inspiring the youth in the Greater Sacramento, CA area to become civically engaged leaders for their schools and communities. Our key goals are moved by social justice issues such as poverty, health, environment, and prejudice at our local schools. These issues are causing at-risk students to underperform in school. We assist our students to create student-generated solutions to these problems, while also providing 21st-century education and life skills to our students hosted and presented by local leaders and professionals in the community.
Our programs are designed to empower students to become civic leaders in their homes, school, and community. We work with a select group of student leaders to ensure that they are on track academically. We work with a select group of student leaders to ensure that they are on track academically, developing meaningful and healthy relationships with their peers, positively impacting their local community, and taking an active role in the trajectory of their lives.
In order to achieve this goal, students meet with a mentor twice a month, take part in community engagement campaigns, and attend various field trips that strengthen leadership skills and inspire them to succeed in school and life.
By the time our students graduate high school, our goal is that they are prepared for the academic rigor of college, and have strengthened their social-emotional skills to be ready for challenges that come along with developing meaningful and healthy relationships with their peers, positively impacting their local community, and taking an active role in the trajectory of their lives.
