“The highest activity a human being can attain is learning for understanding because to understand is to be free.”
Who We Are
Architects of Hope, was founded in 2015 as a community grassroots organization that focuses on leadership and 21st century college and career preparedness for youth throughout the Sacramento area. Our target population is inner city at-risk students in elementary, middle, and high school.
Damone and Jairon Jackson are Sacramento natives who grew up in the Lincoln Village area. They attended West Campus High School, where they both played varsity basketball, football and were involved in several leadership clubs.
After graduating West Campus High School in 2007, they both attended California State University, Sacramento. They played football for the Hornet’s and were apart of several on-campus clubs. Damone graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, and Jairon received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Damone is a McNair Scholar and was given the opportunity to travel to New York and Atlanta where he presented his published academic research on the failing public education system. Jairon was the Northern California student state leader in college sports and recreation for the newly built recreational facility know as the WELL. The twins both graduated in the spring of 2013.
What We Do
The mission of our organization is to inspire youth to become Architects of Hope (AOH) as civically engaged leaders for their school and community.
AOH goals are moved by social justice issues such as poverty, health, environment, and prejudice at our local schools. These issues are causing at-risk students to underperform in school. Our goal is to create student-generated solutions to these problems, while also providing 21st century education and life skills to our students hosted and presented by local leaders and professionals in the community.
By the time our students graduate high school, our goal is that they are prepared for the academic rigor of college, and have strengthened their social-emotional skills to be ready for challenges that come along with it.
